Late 1940s photograph of Dave Brubeck, Ron Crotty (bass), Cal Tjader (drums), and two unidentified (the one in the back may be Bill Smith) presumed Octet members outside at a California venue, tentatively identified as The Brandeis-Bardin Institute. Photographed by Martin Halperin, who was a sound engineer for Armed Forces Radio in Hollywood at the time this picture was taken. The original photograph was stored alongside photographs from when Halperin was a camp counselor at The Brandeis-Bardin Institute.
